How to choose a suitable electric bicycle

CCC certification: Choose a vehicle with the CCC certification mark. CCC certification is China's compulsory product certification system. Certified models meet the requirements of the new national standard GB17761-2018, and are more secure in terms of safety, electromagnetic interference and fire prevention. At the same time, check the certificate of conformity that comes with the vehicle, which should clearly indicate the product name, model, manufacturer or trademark, manufacturer and address, manufacturing date, vehicle code, motor code, drive mode (electric drive and/or electric assist), maximum design speed, vehicle mass, motor power and rated voltage, battery type and other information.
Clear usage needs: Choose according to daily travel distance, purpose, personal preferences, etc. For example, if you need to carry the vehicle up and down stairs frequently or the storage space is limited, you can consider choosing a small and foldable style; if the travel distance is long, you can pay attention to models with strong endurance; if it is used by the elderly, models with simple operation may be more suitable.
Drive mode: There are three types of drive modes for electric bicycles: electric drive, electric assist, electric drive and electric assist. Electric drive models are mainly powered by electricity, supplemented by pedaling, with strong battery capacity and motor driving ability, but relatively heavy; electric assisted models integrate electric drive devices on the basis of retaining the standard transmission system of bicycles, with relatively small battery capacity and light weight; electric drive and electric assisted models have the characteristics of both.
Vehicle mass: According to the requirements of gb17761-2018, the mass of electric bicycles shall not exceed 55kg. Simple models with lighter weight can be pedaled more labor-saving when the battery is exhausted; heavier models look similar to electric mopeds, with batteries in the seat bucket and cushion-type saddles for comfortable riding, but it is laborious to push and pedal. For electric bicycles that meet the standards, the riding distance in 30 minutes is greater than or equal to 5km.
Battery type: Common battery types are lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries. Lead-acid batteries have stable voltage, low price, simple maintenance, stable and reliable quality, but low specific energy, short service life, and frequent daily maintenance. Lithium batteries have different nominal voltages, different energy densities, different charging methods, small size, light weight, and high costs, and their service life is relatively long.
Brand and reputation: Choose brands with long operating time, low repair rate, high popularity, good market reputation, convenient after-sales service, and stable operating status. You can refer to online and offline user reviews, brand market share, etc.
Structure and control: Check whether the vehicle has any bruises or scratches on the exterior; whether the frame welding is firm, whether the tire pattern is clear and wear-resistant; whether the battery is suspected of tampering, and whether charging is convenient; during the test ride, check whether the brake performance is good, whether the control is flexible, and whether the seat is comfortable; you can also lift the drive wheel off the ground, select the highest speed gear, turn the handle to the maximum position, and confirm whether there is a speed prompt sound to comprehensively judge the vehicle quality.
Safety performance: The maximum design speed of electric bicycles does not exceed 25km/h, the vehicle mass is less than or equal to 55kg, and the battery nominal voltage is less than or equal to 48V. At the same time, the performance requirements such as mechanical safety, driving safety, electrical safety, and flame retardant and fire safety should also be clarified. Pay attention to whether there is a "ccc" certification mark on the nameplate to avoid purchasing vehicles that exceed the standard.
Configuration check: Understand the information of key accessories such as motors, batteries, chargers and controllers. When purchasing, check whether the motor code, model and manufacturer, battery type, model and manufacturer, controller model and manufacturer on the electric bicycle product certificate are consistent with the actual vehicle, and ensure that the charger is original. At the same time, please note that the electric bicycle as a whole shall not be sold separately from accessories such as batteries, and it is strictly forbidden to remove or modify the speed limiter, modify or add batteries, and add non-original accessories such as canopies.
Energy-saving certification (if any): Some electric bicycles have energy-saving certification marks. The evaluation index of energy-saving certification is that the mileage of the electric bicycle must be greater than or equal to 75km for every 1kW・h of electricity consumed. Models that have obtained energy-saving certification may have more advantages in power saving and driving range.
In addition, when purchasing, you should ask for invoices and other purchase vouchers through formal channels, and be careful to retain relevant information. During use, you must also follow relevant regulations and precautions to ensure safe riding and reasonable charging.
