How to improve the power transmission efficiency of motorcycles through maintenance
Here are some ways to improve your motorcycle's power transmission efficiency through maintenance:
Chain and sprocket drive
Cleaning the chain and sprocket
Clean the dust, sand and oil on the motorcycle chain regularly (every 500-1000 kilometers). You can use a special chain cleaner, spray the cleaner on the chain, then gently brush it with a soft brush, and wipe it dry with a clean cloth after cleaning. At the same time, clean the sprocket and remove impurities between the teeth.
Adjust the chain tension
Chain that is too loose or too tight will affect the power transmission efficiency. Generally speaking, the chain tension should be kept within the sag range of 15-25 mm (measured in the middle of the chain). Check and adjust the chain tension every 1000-2000 kilometers.
Lubricate the chain
Choose a good quality chain lubricant and lubricate the chain every 300-500 kilometers. When lubricating, drip the lubricant evenly between the rollers and the inner chain plate of the chain, and let the lubricant fully penetrate during the rotation of the chain.
Check and replace the sprocket
Regularly check the wear of the sprocket, especially the shape and thickness of the teeth. If the tooth tip of the sprocket is severely worn (the wear exceeds 1/3 of the original tooth shape) or the tooth shape is deformed, the sprocket should be replaced in time.
Belt and pulley transmission method
Check belt wear
Check the belt wear every 3000-5000 kilometers to check whether there are cracks, uneven wear or excessive wear on the belt surface. If the belt is obviously worn or damaged, it should be replaced in time.
Cleaning the belt and pulley
Wipe the belt and pulley with a clean damp cloth to remove dust and oil on the surface. Be careful not to use chemical cleaning agents to avoid damaging the belt.
Adjust the pulley
Regularly check the wear of the motorcycle sprocket, especially the shape and thickness of the teeth. If the sprocket tooth tip is severely worn (the wear exceeds 1/3 of the original tooth shape) or the tooth shape is deformed, the sprocket should be replaced in time.
Shaft drive mode
Check the drive shaft
Every 5000-10000 km, check whether the connection of the drive shaft is loose, whether the drive shaft is bent or deformed. If any problems are found, tighten or replace the drive shaft in time.
Replace lubricating oil
The shaft drive system needs to replace the lubricating oil regularly to ensure the lubrication effect. Generally speaking, the lubricating oil is replaced every 10000-15000 km. Choose a special lubricating oil suitable for the shaft drive system. When replacing, drain the old oil completely and then add new oil to the specified oil level.
Other general maintenance points
Keep the engine in good condition
Regularly replace the engine oil (mineral oil every 1000-2000 km, semi-synthetic oil every 2000-3000 km, fully synthetic oil every 3000-5000 km) to ensure good lubrication inside the engine, reduce internal friction loss, and thus improve the efficiency of power output.
Check and clean the air filter regularly. Remove the air filter every 2000-3000 kilometers and use compressed air to blow away the dust on the filter element from the inside out. If the filter element is seriously blocked or damaged, it should be replaced in time.
Check and adjust the spark plug gap (generally the gap is between 0.6-0.8 mm), and replace the spark plug every 10000-15000 kilometers to ensure the normal ignition of the spark plug, so that the engine burns fully and improves the power.
