How to maintain and care for electric motorcycles
Battery
Charge correctly
Use the original charger and charge according to the charging time and method specified in the manual to avoid overcharging and over-discharging. Generally speaking, charge when the remaining power is 20% - 30%, and unplug the charger in time after full.
The charging environment should be well ventilated, dry and at a suitable temperature. Avoid charging in high temperature (such as direct sunlight) or low temperature environment. High temperature may cause battery overheating, and low temperature will affect charging efficiency and battery performance.
Battery storage
When the electric motorcycle is not used for a long time, the battery should be fully charged and taken out and stored separately, and charged every 1-2 months to keep the battery active.
Mechanical parts
Cleaning and lubrication
Regularly clean the body, including the frame, handlebars, pedals and other parts, and wipe off dust and dirt with a damp cloth. For the chain (if any), clean it with chain cleaner, apply an appropriate amount of chain lubricant, and generally lubricate it every 100-200 kilometers.
Check the brake line, throttle line, etc. If there is any jamming or not smooth, you can drip a small amount of lubricating oil for lubrication.
Tighten the screws
Regularly check whether the screws of the frame, motor, brake system, pedals, etc. are loose, especially after the vehicle has been running for a period of time or after passing through bumpy roads. Use appropriate tools to tighten the loose screws.
Braking system
Inspection and adjustment
Check the sensitivity of the brakes frequently, including the travel of the brake handle and the braking force of the brakes. If the brake handle travel is too long or the braking force is insufficient, you need to adjust the tightness of the brake line or replace the brake pads (check the wear of the brake disc and brake caliper for disc brakes).
Generally, check the wear of the brake parts every 3-6 months. When the brake pads are worn to a certain extent (such as less than 2-3 mm in thickness) or the brake discs are severely worn, they should be replaced in time.
Tire
Check the air pressure and wear
Regularly use a tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure. The tire pressure standards of different models of electric motorcycles are different, generally between 2.0-3.0 bar. Ensure that the air pressure meets the requirements. Check the air pressure at least once a week, and also check it in time when the temperature changes greatly.
Check the wear of the tires. When the tire tread depth is less than 1.6 mm, the tires should be replaced in time. At the same time, pay attention to check whether the tires have abnormal conditions such as bulges and cracks. If there are any, they should be replaced immediately.
To ensure that your electric motorcycle is always in the best condition, please remember to perform these maintenance work regularly.
