Motorcycle component maintenance
In the use of motorcycles, there are some maintenance that users can do themselves. This can not only reduce the trouble of going to the repair shop, but also save time and increase your understanding of motorcycles.
Spark plug maintenance
Spark plugs are key components of motorcycle engines. The normal combustion of the mixture is the key to the normal operation of the engine. Firstly, the type of spark plug used in each engine varies, mainly due to differences in heat value, thread size, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to use the specified type of spark plug. The engine is burning normally. Unscrew the spark plug and observe. The electrode should be ochre red. If it turns black, it indicates carbon buildup, indicating that the mixture is too rich and combustion is not sufficient. Carbon buildup should be cleaned. Clean the carbon deposits in the central electrode groove and L-electrode with a pointed cone; Adjusting the spark plug gap: GS125 (0.6-0.9mm), QS150T (0.7-0.8mm), carbon accumulation on the spark plug can hinder good spark and may lead to misfire; If the spark plug is found to be easily damp or burnt gray, it indicates that the heat value of the spark plug does not match. It should be replaced with a suitable spark plug at the designated repair shop of Qingqi Suzuki. Attention:
1. Determine thread size and plug rod length. If the plug rod is too short, it will cause carbon deposition and damage the engine at the threaded part of the plug hole.
2. Before applying the spark plug wrench, carefully screw the spark plug into the threaded part of the cylinder head by hand to prevent damage.
3. Use the special on-board tool spark plug sleeve to tighten the spark plug to the specified tightening torque.
Air filter maintenance
The air filter is the respiratory system of motorcycles. If the air filter is blocked by dust, the intake resistance will increase, which will reduce the engine's output power, increase fuel consumption, and make it difficult to start and easy to shut down the engine. In severe cases, dust entering the cylinder block will exacerbate the wear and tear of engine components. To clean the air filter, follow the following steps:
Remove the air filter element from the vehicle;
If the filter element is sponge foam, it can be carefully cleaned with neutral detergent. Do not twist it hard. After cleaning, dry the water, drop 2-3 drops of engine oil (to absorb the extremely fine dust in the air), hold it well with your hand, and replace it as it is; If it is a paper filter element, it must not be cleaned with liquid. Internal dust can be forcefully knocked, and if possible, compressed gas can be used to blow in the opposite direction of the air intake (never reverse it, otherwise blowing dust into the pores of the paper core will cause more serious blockage); Example: The QS150T paper core blows from the inside outwards, while the Storm Crown Prince blows from the outer circle towards the middle hole.
When reinstalling the filter element, pay attention to the installation direction and intake direction;
When driving in dusty and dirty environments, the cleaning frequency should be increased. If a sponge is broken or a paper filter element is soaked, a new one should be replaced immediately, otherwise it may damage the engine or emit black smoke.
